01

Define a qualified manufacturing lead

A form submission is not automatically a sales opportunity. A useful definition combines company fit, application relevance, technical requirements, purchase timing and the buyer’s role in the decision.

Agreeing these criteria prevents marketing from celebrating volume while sales struggles with unsuitable enquiries.

  • Target industry and company profile
  • Product, application or capability fit
  • Buyer role, timing and commercial potential
02

Capture context without creating form friction

Ask only for information that changes routing or follow-up. Product interest, application, location and requirement summary usually provide more value than a long generic form.

Complex requirements can be explored after the initial response through a technical discovery call or a structured RFQ process.

  • Use conditional fields where appropriate
  • Explain why technical information is requested
  • Offer document upload only when operationally supported
03

Score fit and intent separately

A strategically valuable company may still be early in research, while an urgent enquiry may fall outside production capability. Separate fit from intent so the correct team can nurture, qualify or decline each request.

The score should guide action rather than become an unexplained number inside the CRM.

  • Fit: market, company, application and value
  • Intent: urgency, specificity and next-step behaviour
  • Route by score, territory and product responsibility
04

Close the loop with sales outcomes

Campaigns improve when sales records why an enquiry progressed or failed. Review contactability, technical fit, quotation status, opportunity value and loss reasons at a consistent interval.

This evidence helps refine keywords, audience targeting, landing pages and content around the enquiries most likely to become viable opportunities.

  • Track response time and contact outcome
  • Record qualification and disqualification reasons
  • Feed opportunity learning back into campaigns
